Weysen & De Baere Architects shared with us their design for an apartment building in Flanders, Belgium which includes four units and an office on the ground floor. The construction site exists of two parcels, lying back to back, each with its own entrance from the street. More images and architects’ description after the break.

Although parking needs can easily be projected along both streets, the city requires a solution on the site, accessed from the Laurierstraat. The plinth is therefore cut according to an elongated parking solution. This avoids creating a frozen, closed front of garage boxes in the plinth. It also allows for the entrance of the apartment and the storage and meter rooms to be organized in the courtyard.
